According to Spark News, as much as 77 per cent of job seekers browse for employment possibilities on their mobile devices. From searching to applying to interviewing from their phones, adults have come to truly rely on technological advances to help them find jobs. As more and more adults are becoming regular cell phone users, 91 per cent to be correct, they count on their mobiles to connect them to the online world. In fact, a recent study by the Pew Research Center indicates that people between the ages of 18 and 44 have theirs 22 hours a day, making it convenient to search longer for a job, thanks to your phone.
In the same study, over 36 per cent of adults say they use their mobile devices as an efficient way to quickly respond to new job alerts. Another 23 per cent of those surveyed use theirs to be able to stay on top of searches anytime and anywhere, while the remaining 18 per cent use theirs as it is a discreet way of searching for jobs while still being employed.
In addition to being an important tool and resource for job seeking, over half of respondents admit to reading company reviews from other employees as well as researching salary information on their devices.
Unsurprisingly, the majority of mobile job seekers are entry level professionals and recent college graduates, which account for 24.8 per cent.
It is therefore crucial for businesses to optimize their mobile presence to reach their largest audience possible. Without it, companies are reducing their ability to connect and engage with skilled and employable individuals.
