1. 62 new jobs at Datran BSL in Rimouski
The Ministry of Employment and Social Solidarity has granted financial assistance in the sum of $165,635 over a three-year span to Datran BSL Inc., which specializes in the application of paint on plastic and metal components, in order to develop a training plan that will help create 62 jobs while maintaining 13 positions in Rimouski.
2. More than 20 new positions at L’Espace Ricardo
Ricardo has decided to open his new store, Espace Ricardo, in Saint-Lambert, creating along with it 20 new jobs, especially beneficial for young people.

3. Financial assistance in Arthabaska: 57 new jobs
Laurent Lessard, the Minister responsible for the Centre-du-Québec region, has announced it will be contributing just over $2.2 million in financial aid to ten companies within the Regional County Municipalities of Arthabaska and De L'Érable to support projects that will lead to the creation of 57 new jobs and consolidate 475 others.
4. Good news for Poisson Salé Gaspésien
Developed in Europe, Poisson Salé Gaspésien has just received a nice boost thanks to a government financial assistance program of nearly $400,000. This should help them to maintain 182 jobs and create 31 additional jobs.
5. 10 new jobs at Hydro-Québec Distribution in Mauricie
Ten new technicians will be joining Hydro-Québec Distribution teams, with a focus on improving services to customers in the territory.
LAYOFFS
1. Scotiabank cuts 1,500 positions in Canada and abroad
In order to reduce costs, Scotiabank has announced earlier this month it will be cutting the equivalent of 1500 full-time jobs across Canada as well as internationally. These restructuring plans will eventually lead to the closing of over a hundred branches.
2. Cirque du Soleil cuts 52 positions in Montreal
Fifty-two administrative and support employees have lost their jobs this month. The famous entertainment giant seeks to ensure its development in the coming years.

3. Wal-Mart lays off 210 people
To improve its organizational structure’s efficiency, Walmart, the US retail giant, has laid-off 210 "associates" in Ontario this past month.
4. SNC-Lavalin will abolish 4,000 jobs worldwide
As part of the restructuring of its worldwide operations, the Quebec engineering firm has announced that, starting in 2015, about 4,000 jobs will be eliminated across the planet over an18-month period.
