The 50 Best Managed Companies in Canada
Winners of the Best Managed Companies in Canada contest, organized by Deloitte, were selected for their performance in terms of efficiency and innovative management. The first priority of these enterprises is growth, which increased 14% in 2012 to reach 5.4 billion dollars in revenue. Their profits meanwhile increased by 24%. According to Deloitte, this year’s winners are optimistic in the context of global financial crisis, focusing on the key operational indicators and their corporate responsibility. Among the 50 new winning companies are Cowan Insurance, Levitt-Safety and DeSerres. Three other prize levels recognize the excellence of winning companies from previous years: those Requalified (for companies that have retained their title for 2 consecutive years), Gold Recognition members (3 consecutive years) and Platinum Club members (6 consecutive years).
Saskatchewan employers recruiting in the United Kingdom and Ireland
The Saskatchewan Minister of the Economy and 13 employers went to Ireland to participate in the Working Abroad Expo that was held in Dublin on March 2 and 3 and in Cork on March 6. The delegation also attended a show in Manchester in the United Kingdom on March 9 and 10. 10,000 candidates were expected at these professional events which should particularly attract skilled profiles in the trade, industry and health sciences sectors, according to the Province’s government. With these activities, Bill Boyd, Minister of the Economy, hopes to attract a mobile workforce which suffers from a high rate of unemployment in Ireland to come for work in Canada. In 2012, Saskatchewan welcomed 290 Irish families by going to meet the candidates directly in their country of origin.
