The 13th Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month, which will take place from next October 1st to 28th, has the theme this year “Fostering Healthy Minds at Work…the mental health connection”. Presented by Great West Life Insurance Company, through its corporate responsibility program, and managed by Excellence Canada, the operation aims to recognize and implement initiatives that favour psychological health and safety at work.
In 2011, 21.4% of the working age population (20 to 64 years) suffered from a mental problem or illness. To promote psychological health and safety in the workplace, Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month (CHWM) offers administrators concrete actions to be implemented within their business. The website www.moissanteautravail.ca has been developed to provide them with all the resources needed to help create healthy workplaces.
The program, which can be taken at any time, takes place over one month with four core initiatives that each last one week. The proposed themes are: “A safe workplace”, “A healthy body”, “A positive workplace culture”, “Pleasure at home and at work”. The website provides ideas for activities, strategies, advice and practical tools for each of them.
A Certificate of Excellence in view
Organizations that support work and life balance can apply to be showcased on the CHWM site. Any Canadian company can be registered, regardless of its sector of activity. The selected practices will receive a free webinar, “Healthy Workplace®”, from Excellence Canada. And organizations highlighted on the site will participate in the CHWM Best Practices Collection. Winners will receive a Certificate of Excellence as a Best Practices Organization – CHWM 2013, and will be visible on the website for one year.
