Netherlands-based Randstad Holding nv has been in full restructuring mode since June, when it merged with competitor Vedior nv, another sector giant. The resulting company is the second-largest HR services and staffing agency in the world with 34,000 employees in over 50 countries and combined revenue of C$27 billion in 2007.
As planned, Vedior’s Canadian subsidiary is merging with Randstad Canada to form a major Canadian player. Terry Power, current president of Sapphire Technologies Canada Limited, a Vedior company, has just been appointed managing director of Randstad Canada. Mr. Power will manage Randstad’s activities while continuing to oversee Sapphire Technologies and its subsidiaries: OriginHR, Global Managed Service Canada and ATS Reliance.
The new Randstad group will offer HR support services, vendor management services and recruitment for temporary staffing and permanent hires within the following specialties: administrative support, accounting, finance, customer contact centres, sales and marketing, HR, industrial, skilled trades, engineering and information technology.
