Changing jobs every week

How does one go about finding the job one was meant to do? All of us have at one time or other asked ourselves this question. Sean Aiken, a 25-year-old new graduate from Vancouver, wants a quick answer. Like many young people of his generation, he wants to find a fulfilling job to which he can devote himself. He won’t settle for something just to pay the rent. . .

His solution? To change jobs every week for a year. In this way, he hopes to have a revelation and find his way. Since he is also very concerned with poverty in Canada, he has decided to donate all his earnings to Make Poverty History, a Canadian association working to end child poverty. He has already raised $3,360. During this time, to live, the young professional is counting on sponsors and donations.

This operation is well relayed online in Sean’s blog, www.oneweekjob.com. He discusses his various jobs: volleyball coach, florist, yoga professor, and most recently, event organizer at Lake Louise. One page is devoted to the supported association, and another is for potential employers, who are invited to e-mail Sean their proposals, specifying the nature of the job offered, location, company name, desired week and donation amount.

This very original initiative could inspire a number of graduates wanting to find the job of their dreams while assisting causes they hold to heart. In the meantime, Sean Aiken will have made a name for himself, benefiting from exceptional media coverage. Since the launch of his operation in February, he has been covered in more than 60 media passages. In addition to the many articles published in the regional, free and national press, he has been interviewed on CTV, Global TV, CBC Radio and CBC News, to name but a few.

Sean will be in Quebec starting May 28. He speaks functional French and is open to receive your one week job offers. Sean can be reached via email at oneweekjob@gmail.com or by phone at 1-416-735-WEEK
