Crisis or not, the best and brightest are not afraid to look elsewhere

Despite the economic outlook, top performers are not afraid to quit their jobs to seize new opportunities, according to a study by Catalyst titled “Opportunity or Setback? High Potential Women and Men During Economic Crisis.”

According to results, 20% of respondents did not hesitate to switch jobs over the past 18 months, showing that high-potential employees continued to benefit from new opportunities even in difficult times, and that they are not risk-averse. This means, says Ilene H. Lang, President and CEO of Catalyst, that globally, top performers remain quite confident in their ability to land a new job.

Companies should not rely on an economic crisis to get their employees to stay put, but should instead prioritize employee loyalty.
