Smile, you’re going to work! A Japanese transportation company has just initiated a rather unusual morning ritual: before starting work, its 500 employees will be required to scan their smile into the Omron smile scan software, the goal being to improve customer service. The computer analyzes a number of data points, from lip curves to eye wrinkles, to determine whether the smile is sincere or not. It then grades the smile from 0 to 100% and provides words of encouragement or advice to help improve below-par smiles. So, what’s next—software that will analyze how keen you are to go to work?!
