Hirings
1- On January 31, Pauline Marois announced that the Quebec government would be adding $ 350 million in support of a cement project in Port-Daniel-Gascons, a small town between Chandler and Paspébiac. This includes $ 100 million in equity and a loan of up to $ 250 million. The construction of the new plant, operated by Cement McInnis, will create 2,300 jobs this spring, and 400 permanent jobs thereafter.
2 – Pauline Marois has also announced a $ 5 million loan to AddÉnergie, a company that deals with the assembly of charging terminals for electric vehicles in Shawinigan. The company will create hundreds of jobs over the next five years.
3 – The Quebec government is contributing $ 18.2 million to the Montreal Heart Institute for establishing a diagnostics and cardiovascular therapies customization project. As a result, 150 research jobs will be created in Montreal.

Layoffs
1 – Montreal’s Mayor Denis Coderre celebrated his first hundred days in office in February. He who has promised to shake things up at City Hall has now reorganized the senior civil service and eliminated three executive positions, rsulting in annual savings of $ 400,000.
