Monster… On the move!
There’s action at the recruiting site giant. The new year is taking off at lightning speed. The monster awakens…
TV, radio and online advertising—the Monster offensive is off and running. Developed by BBDO Worldwide, the job search board’s new global campaign will feature the same tagline for each media. “Your calling is calling” is the slogan chosen by Monster to attract jobseekers to its site, which has been overhauled for 2008. The new home page features a new design and logo
On the acquisition front, Monster Worldwide has just bought Affinity Labs for $61 million in cash. The goal is to harness the increasing potential of the social networking phenomenon and of online communities. Monster is banking on a long-term growth strategy by acquiring a development-stage company in order to increase its presence in a booming sector. San Francisco-based Affinity Labs creates online niche communities that allow professionals and jobseekers from a given sector to exchange information and network. Its communities include PoliceLink, NursingLink and ArtBistro. The two companies had already forged partnerships, for advertising in particular, and Christopher Michel, Affinity Labs founder, had previously sold Military.com to Monster, whose management team he is now on.
And to wrap up… the rumour. Rupert Murdoch has apparently offered the Board of Monster $4.8 billion for the company. After acquiring MySpace in 2005, R. Murdoch seems to have developed an appetite for online heavyweights!
