What will be your daily pursuit?

The Manager, People & Culture - Banff (P&C) is a key leader in driving P&C initiatives across our businesses, including the Banff Gondola, Lake Minnewanka, Banff Lodging, and Transportation Team in Banff, as well as the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton, and Golden Skybridge in Golden. This role is responsible for supporting every aspect of the employee experience—from onboarding and recognition to training and employee relations. Additionally, this role also oversees Banff-based staff housing operations, ensuring a safe, clean, and positive living environment for over 300 employees. This role reports to the Director, People & Culture for the Banff Jasper Collection (BJC).


This position is based in Banff, AB with occasional travel required to Waterton, AB & Golden, BC

What will you do in this job?

BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP

  • Hold regular one-on-one meetings with line of business leaders you support to stay in the know on
    how things are going, any needs of the business, and how you can best support the team throughout
    the season
  • Communicate regularly any updates or changes as they relate to People & Culture tools and processes
    to keep our teams informed
  • Collaborate with the Director of P&C on month-end reporting, forecasting, and budget planning

ENGAGEMENT & RECOGNITION

  • Lead the annual team member engagement survey and action planning process for your respective
    lines of business, in alignment with the collection's overall targets and goals
  • Communicate and champion Pursuit's recognition programs, providing feedback on program
    enhancements
  • Serve on the BJC Communications Committee, contributing to content for the bi-monthly employee
    newsletter

HOUSING

  • Serve as the escalation point for Banff housing challenges and conflict resolution
  • Provide daily leadership to the Banff Housing team, including the Housing Supervisor, Maintenance
    Worker, and Staff Housing Cleaner
  • Partner with the Housing Leadership Team to develop KPIs that ensure high standards in housing
    operations (e.g., check-ins/outs, room changes, inspections)

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

  • Partnering with the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) & Payroll team, this role oversees
    the employee change process, from internal transfers, promotions, wage increases, etc.
  • Serve as the point of contact for employee relations concerns, providing sound guidance to
    operations leaders on concerns that can be resolved at the unit level. Follow up to ensure concern
    has been brought to full resolution with the concerned team member(s)
  • Conduct thorough investigations into sensitive matters and bring concern to full resolution with
    concerned team member(s)
  • Build manager capability on handling concerns in partnership with the Director of People & Culture

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of direct reports, fostering professional growth and strong
    performance
  • Lead the annual performance management process, with support from the People & Culture Support
    Services team, inclusive of launching new tools, educating leaders and ensuring high levels of
    engagement with the process
  • Identify and address performance opportunities/issues through coaching, counseling, and
    disciplinary action when necessary

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

  • Oversee and enhance orientation programs in Banff, Golden, and Waterton, ensuring 100%
    completion within the first week of employment
  • Participate in collection and line of business training and development initiatives as identified
  • Provide recommendations for training opportunities based on identified gaps
  • Support team member development through succession planning.

COMPLIANCE

  • Subscribe to relevant publications to stay up to date with Alberta and BC labor laws and regulations
    in our industry
  • Balance Pursuit's practices and processes with legal compliance and business needs

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • 3-5 years of broad HR/P&C experience, including people management, coaching, and employee
    relations
  • Experience in hospitality, travel, or tourism is preferred
  • Background in managing seasonal workforces and multi-site teams
  • Proven experience developing and delivering training programs
  • Familiarity with payroll, time & attendance, and HRIS systems
  • Strong relationship-building skills across all levels of an organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant HR tools
  • Hands-on leadership approach with high energy, motivation and drive
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and adaptability
  • Ability to stay composed under pressure and thrive in a dynamic environment
