We are looking for an Accounting Specialist, Payroll to join BrokerLink and work out of our Calgary, AB Branch.

What the Role Entails:

  • Prepare Payroll Journal Entry for Finance on a bi-weekly and monthly basis, reconciling the Journal entry to the Payroll Summary Register from UKG Pro
  • Prepare Payroll Accrual for Finance
  • Reconcile Direct deposit amount from UKG Pro to RBC on a bi-weekly and monthly basis; Investigation of any differences are required prior to sign off to finance.
  • Manage the reconciliation and preparation of wire payments to third party vendors for premiums related to source deductions, benefits, RRSP, as well as the Employee Share Purchase Plan. This can include reconciliation of internal charge back between companies for secondment.
  • Analyze, resolve, and coordinate resolutions for inquiries from Government agencies due to EHT remittances, Provincial and Federal Source deduction remittance, and any other outstanding amounts owed due to the acquisition of companies related to payroll and benefits.
  • Analyze and Validate exception reports related to regular payroll, commissions, and expenses.
  • Preparation and filing of year end source deductions related to provincial and federal taxes, as well as any provincial health and education accounts associated with Brokerlink.
  • Preparation of the Severance file monthly for Finance to ensure proper allocation of accrual.
  • Create one-time payments, cancellations, and direct deposit changes at Royal Bank for employee payroll deposits that require adjustments.
  • Support the Payroll Team related to financial reporting during month, quarter, and year end, as well as Ad hoc requests.
  • Manage and work on accounting related to payroll items for acquisitions.
  • Prepare the quarterly vacation accrual for Finance.
  • Support the payroll team in year end functions related to T4's as well as reporting.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned and other ad-hoc reporting and accounting projects as required.

The Successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business, accounting or finance
  • Must have advanced excel skills
  • UKG Pro experience would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and take initiative
  • Ability to work well with and assist others
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, time management, prioritizing and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
