Candidates in either Edmonton or Calgary will be considered.

As a Case Manager, you will be building relationships and collaborating with injured workers, their employers, medical service providers and others to develop individualized services and planning. You will play the pivotal role in facilitating medical and re-employment services for your clients.

Your responsibilities:

  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders and collaborating with them in the return to work process every step of the way.
  • Using various methods of communicating to collaborate with workers, employers, and others, including writing, conference calls and in-person meetings.
  • Demonstrating problem solving and critical thinking while working with the worker, employer, and medical providers to develop a collaborative plan to facilitate a safe recovery and return to work.
  • Interpreting medical reports and coordinating or authorizing medical treatment.
  • Determining entitlement to wage replacement benefits, and anticipating specific customer needs to ensure they are provided with the benefits and services that will support their recovery.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to all stakeholders, and act as an educator and negotiator when managing stakeholders' expectations.
  • Upholding the values and principles of the Alberta Workers' Compensation Board.

Your experience and skills:

  • The ability to treat customers with compassion, kindness and providing them with options and creative solutions is a must in in our organization.
  • Excellent customer service skills, along with your ability to build collaborative relationships with workers, employers and others to form creative plans will be a key aspect of this role.
  • The ability to understand and apply policy while understanding the need for creative problem solving, critical thinking and flexibility to make fair and accurate decisions in a timely manner.
  • Effective communication skills - active listening, collaboration and effective verbal and written communication skills will lead to your success.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to creatively solve complex and sensitive issues.
  • Ability to multitask and be organized to meet timelines in a high-volume, fast paced environment.

Education:

  • A degree or diploma in Social Sciences, Kinesiology, Rehabilitation or Disability Management.
  • Related experience in disability management or medical rehabilitation is required.
  • Experience in vocational rehabilitation is considered an asset.
  • Proficient computer knowledge and keyboarding skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with medical or rehabilitative terminology is an asset.

Salary: $79,111 to $94,976 per annum (Pay Grade 11)

Our next Case Manager class start date is to be determined but please note successful candidates must be available to attend five (5) months of training at the time of hire. This position is eligible for hybrid and successful candidates will be expected to work in-office as scheduled (subject to change). Assessments will be administered as part of the selection process.
