ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead, Talent Acquisition to join our Talent and Learning Programs team. As the Lead, Talent Acquisition, you will be responsible for leading our recruitment efforts to ensure we attract and hire top talent at all levels of the organization. You will manage the entire recruitment process from sourcing candidates to job offers in Canada and US and Australia. This role will oversee a Coordinator, Talent Acquisition. It will involve cross-functional collaboration with the HR team, hiring leaders, and both internal and external stakeholders to ensure an effective and efficient recruitment process.

This position is based at our head office in Downtown Calgary, offering the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Align talent acquisition strategies with TransAlta's strategic priorities to attract and secure top talent, driving the company's growth and operational excellence

  • Work closely with the Sr Manager Talent & Learning Programs to develop strategic plans for the organization

  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with both internal clients, acting as a business partner for their recruitment needs

  • Proactively attract high-calibre professionals through various channels, ensuring quality placements that make a real impact to the business and align with our strategic priorities

  • Identify and drive marketing opportunities to grow the awareness of TransAlta's brand awareness and talent pool

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent related expertise

  • Minimum of 10 years in talent acquisition within the energy sector, with a track record of increasing responsibility

  • Recruitment expertise in roles across the renewable energy, Oil & Gas, Construction, or Mining sectors

  • Proficient in applicant tracking systems and recruitment tools such as SAP Success Factors, VidCruiter, Workday, and LinkedIn Recruiter

  • Demonstrated ability to exceed targets and KPIs while driving team success

  • Skilled in integrating talent assessment tools into the recruitment process

  • Adept at assisting leaders in developing technical skills assessments and validation methodologies

  • Building long-lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Commercial mindset, able to present recruitment solutions to at all levels of the organization in order to obtain a deep understanding of their hiring needs

  • Possess expertise in sourcing and attracting high-calibre candidates.

  • Influence hiring decisions at all levels of the organization to ensure we hire top talent

  • Learn and adapt quickly to TransAlta's hiring needs and be able to recruit for a wide variety of full-time, temporary, entry-level to senior level roles across Canada, US and Australia, including union positions

  • Partner with ED&I Business Partner to ensure talent processes promote a diverse and inclusive culture that enables all employees to reach their full potential

  • Collaborate with recruitment agencies to source and secure top talent, ensuring alignment with TransAlta's strategic hiring goals and operational needs.
