THE POSITION

The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for developing and delivering impactful training programs to enhance employee performance and align with organizational goals. This role focuses on identifying needs, creating engaging learning experiences, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Design, implement, and manage training programs that align with organizational goals.
  • Assess training needs through collaboration with stakeholders and performance analysis.
  • Deliver engaging in-person and virtual learning experiences to enhance employee skills.
  • Develop materials, tools, and resources to support training initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make improvements as needed.
  • Provide leadership to a part-time Learning & Development Coordinator
  • Foster a culture of learning and professional development across the organization.
  • Stay current on industry trends to continuously enhance training strategies.
  • Collaborate with leadership to support organizational growth and performance objectives.
  • Oversee the administration and maintenance of the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring its functionality and accessibility.
  • Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions within the LMS.
  • Upload, organize, and update training content, courses, and resources in the LMS.
  • Active participation in the Safety Program and follow all safety rules.
  • All other duties as assigned.

    THE INDIVIDUAL

    The ideal individual will have the following background:

    • Post-secondary education specializing in Human Resources, Adult Education or related field
    • 3 to 5 years of experience in learning and development, primarily with eLearning software and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
    • Knowledge in the areas of adult learning.
    • Ability to work closely with stakeholders to understand current learning gaps and design an effective training strategy.
    • Experience with compliance training and leadership development.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation and facilitation skills.
    • Passionate curriculum designer focused on innovation and employee engagement.
    • Self-starter with a high level of discipline and attention to detail.
    • Proficient at LMS management, including maintenance and optimization.
    • Proficiency in the following tools (or equivalent platforms): Canva, iSpring, Animaker
    • Adobe Illustrator or animation software experience an asset.
