About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Refining Business Planning & Performance, the Specialist, Downstream Planning & Performance will partner with the Manufacturing business and related stakeholders, along with US & Canadian Planners, support the development of the 5-year business plan and annual budget in accordance with corporate objectives and planning guidance. This role will apply in-depth knowledge of petroleum refining and Downstream value chain integration to coordinate Cenovus' Downstream Manufacturing integrated business model across assets, commercial, and corporate functions, with an emphasis on the business plan.
What you'll do:
Support and represent planning activities for Cenovus's Downstream joint venture refining assets and provide guidance as necessary
Understand risks and opportunities related to the annual business plan and performance initiatives as it relates to corporate objectives and prepare summaries for senior leadership, executives and Board members
Coordinate with teams to advance Downstream Manufacturing analytics by understanding the data landscape, steering towards key benchmarks, cost drivers, and sustainability goals across journey book focus areas
Integrate business improvement initiatives with appropriate stakeholders that stem from Downstream leadership, Commercial, Downstream Technical Services (DTS), North American Performance Improvement, Corporate Planning & related enabling functions
Prepare complex business analytic and financial requests from Downstream Leadership for review sessions, business plans, and Corporate reporting.
Actively engage and influence multi-disciplinary teams, including senior leaders, to drive continuous improvement by understanding risks, finding opportunities within multi-year business plans and annual budgets, and implementing standard methodologies to improve planning process effectiveness and efficiency
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Bachelor's degree in commerce, finance, engineering, science, or a related field; a master's degree is an asset
Expertise in refining operations, commercial and financial analysis to assess and shape manufacturing business plans, ensuring alignment with Corporate and Downstream strategic financial goals
Minimum 12+ years experience working in Downstream Manufacturing and Corporate business areas to complete sophisticated and interdependent processes
Ability to simplify sophisticated finance and business matters for senior leader-level messaging
Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
