Hybrid Work:
This is a hybrid work position in Calgary, Alberta and requires in-person collaboration at the WestJet Campus (22 Aerial Place NE) 3 days per week. This provides flexibility the remaining 40% of the work week. This hybrid work plan allows for critically important learning, collaboration and networking with our colleagues. Specific days in the office are agreed upon by the team.

Reporting to the Director of Procurement, Process, & Strategy, this key position will contribute, develop and drive the evolution of the Procurement Excellence journey at WestJet. Working with the procurement teams, business stakeholders, corporate departments, and suppliers, the successful candidate will be the central point for all procurement related communications, training and management of changes.

This position is responsible for ensuring procurement team and stakeholders understand and can expertly use the procurement systems, tools, policies, processes and procedures. A key responsibility is to articulate and communicate the vision and progress of team's capability and functional excellence strategy.

The candidate will have superior communication skill and significant experience in strengthening the functions capability through leading edge communication, training and change management methods and techniques. Working within the Process & Strategy team, the role will co-develop and improve the technology & data roadmap, process documentation, talent and engagement plan, continuous improvement & benchmarking, and category & supplier performance capability.

An expert communicator, this role will build and deliver the team's communication content such as: executive communications and presentations, value creation updates, business unit knowledge training, system functionality updates, supplier communications, cross-functional process improvements, transformation change plans, regular employee communications (i.e. scorecard, town hall, business review presentations).

The role will identify opportunities to continually improve through standardization, efficiencies and new ways of working. This position will also work closely with various system users in identifying risk areas and solutioning, recommending, implementing effective controls to mitigate identified risks within Procurement or the systems in which Procurement is conducted and communicating the enablement journey to the stakeholders.

Key deliverables include:

  • Draft, issue, communicate and provide education, guidance and training for Procurement policies, procedures and tools
  • Collaborate with the team to develop, implement, and continuously improve value creation and performance scorecards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, draft, deliver department communications to various audiences regarding procurement policies and process.
  • Work cross functionally to develop and deliver change management plans to stakeholder audiences to ensure sustainability of business objectives and continuous improvements.
  • Actively participate on procurement enablement projects to plan and contribute to change management strategy and implementation
  • Proactively assist team members or business partners in areas of opportunity including but not limited to documentation requirements, deficiency remediation, process improvements, policy drafting/updating, training, problem solving, etc.
  • Lead and execute on departmental events, such as quarterly town halls, internal communications and training events
  • Co-manage procurement's continuous improvement intake funnel and lead/execute opportunities as required
  • S2P system administration - collaborate with business unit stakeholders and IT team to maintain and support resolution of system performance issues, end-user support, enablement of new features, release testing, and developing and maintaining process/system training content.
  • Build and maintain knowledge management on various SharePoint sites
  • Develop and execute annual Procurement training and development plans

Experience and qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • 7+ years of strong knowledge and experience in Procurement and Supply Chain
  • Previous Category Management or Buying experience an asset
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in developing and implementing change management plans and leading through to the desired results
  • Proven ability to develop high quality communications and presentations
  • Experience developing and delivering a variety of instructional design, training methods and content
  • Highly process focused, with a keen eye for continuous improvement and achieving results
  • Experience implementing transformation with S2P/procurement systems (e.g. Coupa, JDE/Oracle)
  • Attention to detail, organized and thorough, with a strong desire for continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change through appropriate strategy and tactics
  • Strong ability to influence and work effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to be a strong partner to both stakeholders and Procurement, with a collaborative focus
  • Ability to handle pressure and meet tight timelines in an environment with a high volume of activity
  • Ability to self-lead with strong analytical, problem-solving and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Flexible approach that can work on multiple projects and priorities
  • Technical writing experience is an asset
  • Prosci Change Management Certification or Lean Six Sigma Certification (or equivalent) is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in Procurement, Business Administration or Commerce is preferred
