Reporting to the Dean of the School of Health and Life Sciences, the Associate Dean is a senior leadership position that provides strategic direction and operational oversight for the school's academic programs. This key leadership position also provides guidance and oversight to the school and its programs on scholarly activities, and external engagement. The Associate Dean fosters excellence in teaching, learning, scholarly activity and applied research, and nurtures a culture of innovation and collaboration within the school, the Institute, and with our external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Leadership:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to program leaders and educational delivery teams.

  • Oversee curriculum and pathways development, program reviews, and continuous improvement processes.

  • Foster a culture of teaching excellence and innovation.

  • Champion academic needs with institutional support areas.

Student Success:

  • Champion student-centered approaches to teaching and learning.

  • Support student recruitment and oversee retention, and progression initiatives.

  • Ensure effective and accessible support services are available for students.

Academic Operations:

  • Oversee enrolment management, budget planning, and financial management.

  • Ensure effective use of resources and infrastructure.

  • Support human resources management and staff development.

External Engagement:

  • Foster partnerships with industry, government, and community organizations.

  • Ensure programs meet the current and future needs of industry.

  • Promote experiential learning and applied research.

Strategic Planning and Quality Assurance:

  • Contribute to the development of the school's strategic plan.

  • Oversee quality assurance processes and accreditation.

  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures.

  • Must demonstrate the skills and experience needed to manage school resources.

  • Must be able to operate with a high level of autonomy and freedom of action within established school bounds.

  • Requires a fulsome understanding and sound knowledge of human resources, educational and business practices.

  • Regularly requires interpretation, analysis and decision-making skills.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in health or adult education or related field.

  • Other combinations of formal education, experience and professional designations may be considered.

  • 3-5 years related leadership experience preferably in an educational context.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).


Remuneration: $130,330.72 to $172,669.12 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Will be commensurate with education and experience.
