Key position functions include:

• Ensure accurate and timely full cycle payroll processing.
• Maintain expert knowledge of payroll system and prevailing payroll/legislative practices.
• Recommend improvements to payroll system and services.
• Administer and process bi-weekly, full cycle, hourly and salary payroll.
• Perform all time keeping related activities including entering and auditing time to ensure accuracy and completion.
• Assist with year-end employee tax slips and/or forms and submitting government filings to meet deadlines (eg: T4s & T2200s).
• Identify errors and provide solutions/recommendations as required.
• Assist in liaising with third party payroll vendor(s) regarding payroll and reporting delivery, and reviews performance and services as directed.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, leave of absences and pay rate changes.
• Establish efficient and effective payroll and benefit processing while adhering to company policy and best practice.
• Process and reconcile remittances such as source deductions and RRSPs/TFSAs and benefits.
• Collaborate and work cross functionally with other HR team members and departments.
• Complete project work as assigned.

Preferred candidates will possess a combination of the following:

5 -7 years comprehensive full cycle payroll.
• Current Canadian Payroll Association certification (PCP or CPM) or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with complex payroll environments.
• Experience with payroll and time keeping software systems. UKG and Synerion are assets.
• Experience with US payroll would be an asset.
• High degree of professionalism, integrity, and ability to uphold confidentiality and work with sensitive job and pay-related information.
• Ability to meet deadlines, multitask and coordinate efficiently with various resources.
• Customer service driven with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve moderately complex issues.
• Use initiative, knowledge and sound judgement to effectively resolve issues.
