The Team

Joining the Business Technology team at BCLC means you’ll be working with cutting-edge technology to help build a world-class entertainment company. This is an innovative, capable group of talented individuals working in Digital Development, Delivery Services, Data Enablement & Automation, Technology Platform Enablement, Technology Operations Enablement, Enterprise Services, and Cyber Security. This enables us to execute the purchase and validation of lottery tickets at over 3500 lottery retailers, manage a complex network of 12,000 slot machines and electronic table games across the province and provide the backbone for BCLC’s iGaming platform, and much more.

The Agile Coach 1 role is part our Enterprise Services group within the Business Technology division. Within the Enterprise Services area we drive innovation, collaboration and delivery for BCLC. We excel in Project Management and Agile Practices, optimizing delivery across the entire organization. We empower employees with cutting-edge collaboration technologies and tools fostering a connected and productive workplace.

The Role


As an Agile Coach 1 you will be responsible for supporting delivery teams in adopting best practices & frameworks to enhance their productivity, team behaviours & collaboration, and optimizing their delivery overall. Equally important, the Agile Coach 1 will contribute to and support our Agile Practice in evolving our team health and delivery metrics & KPIs holistically to ensure we have the right measures in place to inform & enhance our delivery across BCLC.

What you will accomplish

  • One-to-One coaching across diverse teams on delivery best practices from frameworks such as Scrum & Kanban
  • Improving our Agile Practice processes through customer & peer collaboration
  • Forming and onboarding new delivery teams across BCLC with a focus on healthy team dynamics and leveraging best practiced frameworks tailored to optimizing their delivery.
  • Evolve Agile Practice guardrails & standards to promote consistency and predictability across all our delivery teams.
  • Utilizing delivery team metrics to promote & improve overall velocity & efficiency across teams

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science.
  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years of relevant experience, with 3 years experience as an Agile Coach, Scrum Master, or similar role with a strong understanding of agile principles, frameworks, and practices;
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and Lean.
  • A combination of education and/or experience may be considered

What will make you successful

  • Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks & methodologies (i.e. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe);
  • Strong understanding of Portfolio & Project Management methodologies;
  • Ability to use common Agile workflow management tools and practices (such as Kanban, Scrum, Lean);
  • Strong knowledge and use of Atlassian Suite: Jira, Confluence;
  • Adaptable with demonstrated understanding that success is measured by the growth and success of an Agile delivery team;
  • Strong process engineering skills with ability to apply them to new Agile delivery team(s) and to implement continual improvement as a result of learning and feedback (technology, people, process);
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, facilitation & communication skills

It would be awesome if you also had

  • Professional Scrum Master (PSM1 at minimum) certification
  • Agile Certified Professional – Agile Coaching;
  • Experience with agile, portfolio and/or project management software systems
  • Experience with Power BI
  • Experience working directly with business partners in a leadership role
  • Understanding of B.C. gaming industry
