Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our highly successful water practice in British Columbia. This is an exciting opportunity for a Civil EIT looking for experience in a heavy civil construction environment. The role is site-based on a major watermain project located in Coquitlam, BC. Training will be provided for the successful candidate. The role will involve approximately 1-2 years of site-based work, with the opportunity to transition to either design-related projects or continue in a full-time construction management environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
Assist in monitoring and managing construction activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
Administration of construction submittal review process, document control, review and assistance with construction change orders
Prepare progress reports, work summaries or other written documentation
Assist in construction inspections to ensure construction activities meet specifications and industry standards
Maintain project site reports, daily field logs, and progress updates for project records.
Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and other officials -to ensure that the projects' needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
Meet with clients, municipal officials, and contractors to review project needs and coordinate field conditions.
Other responsibilities may include:
Prepare detailed design drawings and specifications for roads, water, wastewater and stormwater facilities.
Model surfaces, pipe networks and road corridors using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Perform detailed studies, review plans, hydraulic modeling and design tasks associated with municipal water, wastewater and stormwater systems and related facilities, under the supervision of a project manager.
Write and edit technical reports and engineering studies.
Research issues related to wastewater, stormwater and water resources that impact individual projects.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Must be a registered Engineer-in-Training or ability to obtain within six months.
Experience on a heavy civil construction project site is considered an asset.
Be a self-motivated individual, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Willingness to work overtime in alignment with the construction contractor's work schedule.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Education and Experience
Must have 0 to 3 years of experience in civil engineering.
Have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
