Job Description

We are looking for a Safety Officer to work within a team of fire protection professionals. Your work will be to provide support to our 3 offices in the British Columbia province as well as playing a strategic role while auditing on the field. Among other things, your responsibilities will be to :

  • Review and follow up on safety documentation;
  • Serve as a member of the safety committee;
  • Conduct site safety reviews;
  • Monitor and manage the preventative maintenance program;
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions;
  • Implement safe work practices and procedures;
  • Promote a culture of safety to all employees;
  • Provide subcontractor safety orientations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • University education in health and safety or related discipline;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in prevention;
  • Experience in the construction industry (an asset);
  • NSCO certification;
  • Familiar with the COR certification boards (an asset);
  • Strong communication techniques: verbally and written English (essential);
  • Demonstrate excellent trainer skills;
  • Leadership, good ability to influence and to make decisions;
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with Microsoft 365;
  • Be available to travel across the BC province (occasionally in Whistler, Vancouver Island and Burnaby).
