Health and Safety Specialists are responsible for the instruction, implementation, enforcement and management of the Health and Safety policies of the company through advising, coaching and educating all Flynn Employees. This position will be based out of our Kelowna Branch (located in Lake Country, BC), reporting to the Senior Safety Manager of Western Canada. The chosen candidate will be responsible for supporting our Kelowna branch, which includes job sites in the Okanagan interior area.

A Day in the Life:
· Manage the safety requirements of operational construction sites and equipment
· Conduct safety evaluations of Flynn project sites using documentation and standardized processes
- Conduct new-hire safety orientations
· Ensure that sub-contractors adhere to required safety standards in keeping with Flynn policy/legislation
· Identifying potential risks and safety hazards during a project through involvement throughout the job life cycle (estimate, pre mobilization, construction and autopsy)
· Performing accident and incident investigations as per the company’s health and safety programs
· Maintain a conducive working relationship with all management, superintendents, project managers through education and giving practical on site application options
· Assisting with the communication and implementation of the company’s claims management and return to work programs
· Be proactive in recommending changes to improve the safety programs
· Participate in the development and implementation of safety training programs
· Conducting new worker safety orientations and other required training programs as needed
· Report writing and maintaining of all required documentation
· Attending and facilitating monthly safety committee meetings as required
· Frequent visits to job sites and branches in the Lower Mainland and surrounding areas, possible travel to Vancouver and Victoria when required.
What you Bring:
· Formal education and/or training in Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety, NCSO or equivalent experience
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in a safety role within a construction environment
· Experience working in the ICI construction industry, specifically dealing with flat roofs and architectural metal products is considered an asset
· Knowledge of the COR process is considered a strong asset
· Safety knowledge in Working at Heights, Fall Protection, Fire Protection and WHMIS
· Knowledge and practical experience in accident investigation
· Strong administrative and organizational skills
· Computer literate in Windows applications; Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
