Job Summary

Position Highlights:

The Coordinator, Physician Compensation, is responsible for the daily operations of the Physician Compensation Department. The Coordinator supports the Manager, Physician Compensation and ensures that the payment, recovery and reporting processes for Fraser Health (FH) produce accurate , timely information for the Board, Executive Management Team, Ministry of Health Services and other users of the financial statements and reports.

This is a Regular Full-Time opportunity located in New Westminster, BC at our Uptown Latitude building.

  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Physician Compensation Department by determining priorities, scheduling work based on department priorities, developing processes and methods for project implementation resulting from strategic initiatives
  • Ensure that initiatives are carried out in accordance with the goals, policies and vision of FH.
  • Develop the short- and long-range goals and objectives for Physician Compensation Department, in collaboration with the Manager
  • Assist the Manager in the preparation of the department's budget
  • Manage the annual budget for the designed area by monitoring and reporting expenditures, completing variance analysis and making recommendations for budgetary adjustments
  • Develop and implement department processes and procedures; in collaboration with the Manager
  • Ensure the accuracy of FH's physician payment and recovery accounts by preparing and performing accounting reconciliations, identifying problems and working with the department managers to correct the underlying processes
  • Consult with Medical Affairs on new physician contracts and recommends sign off on all physician contract routing slips to ensure appropriate funding, account numbers and compliance with the Physician Master Agreement
  • Coordinate the preparation of all physician compensation-related reporting, including all regulatory reporting with the Ministry of Health Services to ensure that all filing deadlines are met

Responsible for the daily operations of the Physician Compensation Department; supports the Manager, Physician Compensation and ensures that the payment, recovery and reporting processes for Fraser Health (FH) produce accurate, timely information for the Board, Executive Management Team, Ministry of Health Services and other users of the financial statements and reports.


Responsibilities


  1. Coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Physician Compensation Department by determining priorities, scheduling work based on department priorities, developing processes and methods for project implementation resulting from strategic initiatives; ensures that initiatives are carried out in accordance with the goals, policies and vision of FH.
  2. Develops the short- and long-range goals and objectives for Physician Compensation Department, in collaboration with the Manager; assists the Manager in the preparation of the department's budget; manages the annual budget for the designed area by monitoring and reporting expenditures, completing variance analysis and making recommendations for budgetary adjustments; implements corrective action as directed and escalates issue to the Manager where applicable.
  3. Develops and implements department processes and procedures; in collaboration with the Manager; directs the preparation and approves payments to physicians, recoveries from funding agencies, accounting accruals and account reconciliations ensuring that all payments and recoveries are processed on a timely basis.
  4. Ensures the accuracy of FH's physician payment and recovery accounts by preparing and performing accounting reconciliations, identifying problems and working with the department managers to correct the underlying processes; assists the Manager in the preparation and analysis of periodic financial statements and quarterly reports to the Finance and Audit Committee of the Board of FH, the Ministry of Health Services and the Office of the Comptroller General of BC.
  5. Consults with Medical Affairs on new physician contracts and recommends sign off on all physician contract routing slips to ensure appropriate funding, account numbers and compliance with the Physician Master Agreement.
  6. Coordinates the preparation of all physician compensation-related reporting, including all regulatory reporting with the Ministry of Health Services to ensure that all filing deadlines are met.
  7. Supports the manager in working with the Corporate Finance group by providing advice on the development of physician related budgets and physician costing for new and/or revised strategic initiatives.
  8. In collaboration with the Manager, supports the human resource function for the department including assistance in selecting, directing, motivating and evaluating staff to ensure the effective performance of their duties, promotes, disciplines and initiates staff termination, as required; orients staff, develops and implements appropriate staff development and retention plans; ensures compliance with current human resources standards and procedures.
  9. Develops, implements and administers department standards and procedures in collaboration with the Manager by evaluating and implementing changes as needed to improve services, simplifying workflow and integration with the other financial goals and ensuring compliance with Ministry of Health requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  10. Ensures the quality of service for the Physician Compensation Department and maintains quality assurance programs.
  11. Participates on internal and external committees, as assigned.

Qualifications

CPA recognized professional accounting designation. Five (5) to seven (7) years' recent related financial accounting experience in a large complex organization, including one (1) year supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
