Position: Coordinator, Health & Safety
Department: Event Services
Reports To: Manager, Health & Safety
Term: 18 months (Maternity Leave Coverage)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Coordinator, Health & Safety assists with all aspects of the health and safety program for staff, guests, clients, contractors, and partners at Rogers Arena. This role supports all departments in identifying, implementing, and maintaining safe workplace procedures and processes.

This is an 18 month contract, covering for maternity leave.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Other duties may be assigned, as required)

  • Assist with the emergency preparedness program, this includes conducting health and safety training with full and part-time staff, as required, assist with orientation training of all new employees, contractors, and partners, and reviewing and updating all Emergency Response plans and manuals.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations to eliminate risks and hazards in the workplace and conduct all workplace accident investigations.
  • Work with Facility Operations and Engineering to ensure compliance by all Contractors in completing Pre-Job Safety plans and orientation and conduct workplace inspections.
  • Co-ordinate first aid program including: management of files of first aid treatments; administering database; maintaining first aid supplies and inventory; and providing first aid treatment as required.
  • Attend the Joint Health & Safety committee and ensure all inspections are conducted and followed up on in a timely manner.
  • Participate in WorkSafeBC RTW program in collaboration with human resources and respective department managers, ensuring the claims management process is followed and produce WorkSafeBC Occupational Health & Safety reports as required.
  • Assist with the coordination of the Abbotsford Centre Health & Safety program. This may include being on site to assist with incident investigations and attending Joint Health & Safety committee meetings.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Related post-secondary diploma (preferred) and/or certification
  • 1 year in a health and safety position is preferred
  • OFA Level 2 First Aid
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Creative thinker with the ability to identify ways to improve systems and procedures
  • Able to work evening and weekends as required
