You as a​ HSE Coordinator will:
Primary duties
  • Manage the onsite health care service provided to employees and subcontractors, including first response to areas of the project as required
  • Maintain the onsite First Aid Room
  • Manage the evaluation and treatment of employees with injuries and/or illnesses and referral to a physician or hospital, and subsequent follow-up treatment
  • Follow-up on emergency hospital cases keeping the Claims Management, Site HSE team, project management, apprised of the status of patients
  • Administer the Injury Management System including the completion and filing of required forms & reports.
  • Maintain confidential medical records in secure fireproof cabinets
  • Implement project medical database to support the reporting and follow up of injuries/illnesses managed by the on-site medical staff
  • Participate in the development of emergency response plans and coordination for the project
Secondary duties
  • Support site specific safety orientations, job site inspections and accident/incident reports
  • Monitor employees and subcontractors on site to ensure compliance to safety procedures and escalate issues to resolution
  • Proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations and take necessary measures to correct them
  • Support the organization and scheduling of training programs including but not limited to: WHMIS, Fall Protection, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid
  • Assist with the review and file subcontractors' safety submittals
Is this the right role for you?
  • You have a minimum of 3-5 years' of safety construction experience (ICI)
  • You have the ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations
  • You are working towards, or are already certified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act/Regulations with experience working on a construction site
  • Applicants must be registered with the Emergency Medical Assistance licensing board
  • Must possess a Provincially approved current CPR/AED/First Aid at the Health Care Provider level
  • Knowledge of current occupational health practices and applicable legislation is desirable
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Preference will be given to those with Primary Care Paramedic (PCP)
  • Proficient in the handling of emergency situations
  • Knowledge of medical record keeping requirements in accordance with standards of professional practice, applicable governmental regulations, and HSE requirements
  • Knowledge of and experience with data management systems and computer hardware/software
  • Knowledge of and experience in organizational and medical management and the principles and methodologies involved in medical practices
  • Skills in verbal and written communication
