About the role

Lockheed Martin Canada Inc. (Lockheed Martin) is seeking an experienced Naval Operator to join our team to provide daily support to Customer training at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Esquimalt, BC. The selected candidate will work across a broad internal and external stakeholder group to ensure that training products and services meet the high standards and specific priorities of our Customer.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, design, develop and deliver training products and services to meet Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) training requirements
  • Lead the coordination of internal (Naval Tactics and Team Training Support (NTTTS) Team, Operations Room Officer (ORO) Coordinator, System Administrators and Trainer Support Specialists) and external (RCN and Department of National Defence (DND)) stakeholders to schedule, plan and prepare for individual (Integrated Test & Evaluation (IT&E)) and Collective Training (CT) events in simulated training environments.
  • Provide training support in the Game Controller Role:
  • Coordinate and control flow of game play
  • Lead team in game pack and run profile production or updates, and complete quality assurance review
  • Lead the participation and performance of Control Room / NTTTS and Trainer Support Specialist staff
  • Provide classroom and trainer mentoring support
  • Coordinate training requirements with RCN instructors before and during scenarios
  • Facilitate mentorship and performance feedback to RCN instructors
  • Lead training continuous improvement activities.
  • Support IT&E and CT events in the role of a Warfare Commander as required (commensurate with previous experience)
  • Support the RCN by providing instructors with lesson plan integration support and scenario development
  • Liaise with East Coast Technical Training team to support a coordinated plan to meet Customer priorities, this includes regular attendance to virtual meetings and travel to location when necessary
  • Recommend operational insertions to improve the training effectiveness
  • Conduct tours and provide demonstrations of the Customer's site as tasked by DND
  • Identify and report discrepancies, issues, and observations pertaining to Lockheed Martin delivered products to appropriate stakeholders
  • Work with functional managers to develop and implement a staff resource plan to meet Customer priorities, build organizational depth and support Lockheed Martin employee growth
  • Support Training Leads in agile work planning and reporting
  • Provide regular training reports to appropriate stakeholders
  • Prepare for and attend monthly program meetings with Operational and Technical Authorities, and providing updates on training products and services and influencing coordination and proactive planning and solutions for trainer versions to ensure the Customer's needs are met
  • Support Technical Training Manager in the maintenance of a proactive, mutually supportive relationship with our domestic Customers
  • Liaise with Lockheed Martin engineering discipline and business development teams to collaboratively drive solutions forward
  • Work full-time at the Customer site with minimum supervision and following common Lockheed Martin processes
  • Support inclusivity in our day-to-day interactions, both internally across teams and programs, as well as externally with our Customers.

What you bring to the role

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with nine years of professional experience; or seven years of professional experience with a related master's degree
  • Recent experience or demonstrated capacity to perform in the role of coordinating Operations (OPS) Room procedures, and performing any one of the Warfare Commander roles (e.g. ORO Qualification and/or significant Fleet / Sea Training experience)
  • Recent experience with Voice Communications and Naval tactics is necessary
  • Recent experience or demonstrated capacity to lead teams of SMEs in complex problem solving, planning, scenario / training development activities
  • Recent Knowledge of Combat Management System 330 (CMS 330)
  • Ability to achieve North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret security clearance
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to lead change.

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Experience with Military trainers and synthetic training solutions
  • Recent experience or demonstrated capacity to instruct in a classroom environment
  • Familiarity with Project Management Professional or Agile processes
  • Bilingualism
