Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time permanent Disability/Return to Work Coordinator at our manufacturing hub in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Manager of Occupational Health and Safety, the Disability/Return to Work Coordinator will oversee the employee occupational and non-occupational claims, including WCB, STD, LTD, RTW planning, and accommodations
  • Coordinate all external medical specialists, consultants, or therapists regarding in-house assessments
  • Develop and make recommendations for improvements to the company's disability management and return to work policies
  • Assist in investigating injuries, tracking, maintaining, and reporting incidents and near-miss data to identify and analyze trends
  • Conduct Ergonomic assessments and physical demands analysis for production employees and office staff
  • Develop strong relationships with the employees & Supervisors on the production floor and perform daily/weekly walks through the areas of the production plant
  • Perform administrative duties such as filing, scanning, faxing, photocopying, and arranging data into spreadsheets and payroll system
  • Develop & deliver presentations and training on employee assistance program and other wellness information
  • Act as the first point of contact for workers in case of a workplace injury and work with the emergency response team
  • This position is expected to align with the corporate values and strategic goals of Reduction of Accident Rates
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Academic Certification in Disability Management or Return to Work Coordinator Program and/or experience is required
  • College or University Diploma or Certification in Occupational Safety and Health is considered an asset
  • Experience working within a unionized environment is required
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment is required
  • Expert knowledge of Provincial Workers Compensation legislation, Occupational Health and Safety regulations, Duty to Accommodate, Human Rights Code, FIPPA, etc
  • Strong understanding of Occupational and Non-Occupational Claims Management, including WCB, Functional Abilities Forms (FAF), Short Term Disability Claims processes, and LTD claims management
  • Good working knowledge of and experience with standard office equipment and software (i.e. Microsoft Office, etc)
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
