The Advisor, Health, Safety, Security and Environment (Potash) is responsible for the administration and support of the health, safety, security and environmental programs for DP World Canada.

In this role you will:

  • Assist in the development and administration of key elements of the HSSE programs, including documentation and records for risk assessments, policies, operating procedures, work instructions, and the inspection, drills and audit programs.
  • Collaborate with the DPW World Canada team (all functions) to standardize HSSE processes across the BUs when possible.
  • Act as a resource in meeting HSSE responsibilities and complying with regulations.
  • Coordinate training for management, employees and contractors in all aspects of HSSE.
  • Coordinate drills, inspections, and follow up actions resulting from them.
  • Positively drive agreed initiatives, propose new initiatives and adopt a sense of continuous improvement.
  • Manage requirements around the HSSE metrics (reporting, dashboards) and follow up open items (actions, investigations).

What you bring to the role:

  • Post-secondary training in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences/ Hygiene or similar field.
  • Minimum 3 years in a similar role with experience coordinating Safety and/or Environment Programs; prior experience working in an industrial and/or unionized environment is an asset.
  • Willingness to take initiative to solve problems and a desire to identify process improvements.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships and achieve buy in and ownership to quality standards/ initiatives with all departments and levels.
  • Sound judgement and analytical thinking that enables decision making, ability to manage projects and prioritize and manage timelines.
  • Self-starter with a positive, hands on approach and the ability to work as a team member.
  • Exceptional computer skills and ability to quickly learn new software.
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written.
  • Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
