What will your typical day look like?

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Manager to be part of the leadership of the Payroll Managed Services team within the Deloitte Payroll as a Service offering. The Senior Manager will be responsible for all aspects of payroll services, including implementation, process design, compliance, and team training and management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in payroll management, extensive knowledge of various payroll solutions, and the ability to develop and lead a team.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of payroll professionals, ensuring their development and growth.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and support to the team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Set clear performance expectations and goals for the team, monitoring progress and providing regular feedback.

Payroll Process Implementation

  • Review of Payroll deliverables to ensure high quality and timeliness of processing and reporting for our clients - Strong payroll tax technical and accounting skills are a must.
  • Oversee reporting of Payroll information to client stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the quality of services to our clients and management of risk for the firm.
  • Implement efficient payroll processes and procedures, considering best practices and industry standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as the payroll advisory and system implementation teams, to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes.

Payroll Compliance and Controls:

  • Establish and enforce robust controls and procedures to ensure compliance with payroll regulations, tax laws, and company policies.
  • Maintain the integrity of the HR and Payroll system and inputs for our clients.
  • Stay updated on relevant payroll legislation and regulatory changes, ensuring timely implementation of required updates.
  • Collaborate with the payroll advisory team to conduct regular internal audits of our client files to identify any potential compliance issues and take corrective actions, as necessary.

Payroll Solution Management:

  • Collaborating internally to enhance payroll solutions for small and mid-size clients.
  • Optimize the use of the Deloitte Dayforce BPO solution for our Mid-Market clients.
  • Collaborate with System implementation teams to support Oracle, Workday and SAP implementations.
  • Stay abreast of emerging payroll technologies and trends, recommending enhancements to improve service delivery.

Enough about us, let's talk about you

  • National payroll Institute, Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) and Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designations required.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in payroll management, preferably in a similar position or leading a payroll team in the industry.
  • Experience performing payroll activities, such as, onboarding new employees, terminations of retiring employees, leave and absence, payroll processing, benefits reporting with Canadian organizations is a must.
  • Experience with international payroll activities would be a nice to have.
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance requirements, tax regulations, and labor laws.
  • Proven ability in developing and leading high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and strong organization skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as, on a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; fluent in English, French is an asset.
  • Intermediate to advanced level of MS Office Suite proficiency (e.g., MS Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with various payroll solutions, including Dayforce.

The salary range for this position is $118,000 - $220,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
