The Opportunity
We are seeking an early career strategic communications professional to bring our dynamic employee and executive communications strategies to life. As the Associate, Employee Communications your purpose is to keep employees connected and informed at both Emera and our operating companies across North America and the Caribbean to build engagement, trust and confidence.
You will join the Emera Corporate Affairs team, reporting to the Senior Advisor, Employee & Executive Communications. In this role, primary responsibilities include crafting and delivering compelling and relevant content that supports the company's business strategy across various internal channels, managing our corporate intranet, and planning and executing internal events that advance employee and executive communications goals.

Key Responsibilities
Employee & Executive Communications:
Support overarching employee and executive communications strategies.
- Manage and update internal communication channels, collaborating with stakeholders to create engaging content while ensuring it remains fresh and relevant and supports business objectives.
- Day to day management of internal communication tactics, including corporate memos and intranet, newsletters, executive speaking notes, tv screens, and more.
- Help facilitate content meeting series with internal subject matter experts to build a library of content and establish cadence for delivery.
- Manage the corporate intranet and act as the content manager for the landing page, liaising with content leads across the business.
- Serve as the editor of corporate newsletter.
- Plan and deliver employee events that advance employee and executive communication strategies across Emera and our operating companies.
- Shape and draft messaging for the Executive Leadership Team.
- Provide corporate affairs counsel and act as project lead for ad hoc corporate affairs initiatives.
Brand & Design Counsel
Serve as an internal brand ambassador, ensuring consistency and alignment across all internal communications channels.
- Ensure brand consistency across all internal digital assets.
- Collaborate with external designers and consultants on creation of graphics and visuals to support creative internal brand storytelling for employee and executive communications.
- Support the creation of an employee brand guidebook and manage ongoing updates to ensure consistency and alignment across internal communications channels.
Measurement & Analytics
- Lead quarterly analytics reporting for internal digital channels.
- Stay ahead of trends in employee and executive communication tools, applications, and strategies.
- Use data insights to refine content strategy and improve audience engagement.
Coordination & Planning
- Organize and oversee key project management deliverables, project schedules, meeting agendas and internal records, to ensure seamless execution.
- Oversee Emera's corporate and employee email inboxes, ensuring timely responses and resolution of inquiries.
- Manage content calendars, schedules, and deadlines to ensure timely and consistent delivery of content.

- You leverage analytics and data-driven insights to refine communication strategies.
- You have strong technical aptitude with digital communication tools (e.g. Microsoft suite, SharePoint).
Education and Experience:
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in communications, public relations, or related subject area combined with a minimum of 2-3 years of communications experience.
- Proven ability to develop and execute communication plans and event plans that align with organizational goals.
- Strong writing and editing experience across multiple formats, including newsletters, corporate memos, executive speeches, and digital content.
- Experience with internal digital platforms (e.g., SharePoint, ContactMonkey, or similar) and/or Canva and content creation tools for visual storytelling is an asset.
- Event planning and logistics experience, particularly for internal employee events, is a plus.
