Are you ready to apply your knowledge in the real world? We are hiring three (3) co-op students for the May 5 - August 22, 2025 Term for Safety Management System, Safety Program, Internal Audit and Continuous Improvement support.

During your time with us, you will gain exposure to what it's like to be part of our Safety Management team, such as assisting Nova Scotia Power Safety resources by the provisioning of tools, materials, and insights to aid in corporate requirements. Additionally, to promote the values of Nova Scotia Power's safety culture by being proactive and speaking-up on safety.

What you'll do:

We'll treat you as one of our own and your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Support development of Nova Scotia Power's Safety Programs and Risk Registry
  • Support improvements to the Safety Management System.
  • Support the development of educational and training materials related to the Nova Scotia Power SMS.
  • Assist in the development of Nova Scotia Power SMS content and tools.
  • Support the development of digital information platforms, including development workshops.
  • Support the Safety Department as well as Building Facilities with the development and integration of safety initiatives for occupants of the building.
  • Other duties as required as we continue to strengthen our safety performance and culture.
  • This role requires a system administration focus within Nova Scotia Power Safety but will be required to intermittently participate with other safety and operational resources.
  • The position will be required to adhere to basic personal protective equipment requirements of Nova Scotia Power and the Affiliate companies when conducting observational activities but will not be engaged in any operational work activities.

Who you are:

Working as a valued part of our Safety management team, you will bring:

  • The successful candidate is enrolled in their 1st or 2nd year of a two-year occupational health and safety diploma program, or a student in a similar undergraduate program such as OHS, or Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, is client/customer focused, working well in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and data processing skills are required in addition to a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
