This position is:

Hybrid, a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and the ability to work from home the remaining time.

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) collaborates with leaders from the business to define needs, provide input to the development of people strategies and provide the highest level of People & Culture services to them and to Eastlink team members. As a trusted advisor, the HRBP provides coaching and counsel to leaders on HR solutions that contribute to the goals of the business unit. Our HRBP team supports a high performing and engaged working environment while building strong links between People & Culture strategy and business strategy. In addition, they will assist leaders in developing talent strategy and business solutions that support the unique needs of the organization.

Accountabilities:

  • Proactively identifies and understands the issues and provides advice and expertise, through new and innovative HR ideas, to develop short-term and long-term business strategies, solutions and action plans that support the achievement of current and changing needs and objectives of Eastlink;
  • Acts as an advisor by providing advice guidance and/or coaching on sensitive confidential and complex HR issues in particular with leaders, ensuring compliance with Eastlink policies, Employment Standards and other regulatory employment and human rights requirements;
  • Provides support and guidance to leaders on performance and attendance management by partnering with leaders to develop success plans for team members;
  • Leads investigations regarding concerns brought forward by following our equitable processes;
  • Fosters a continuous improvement mindset, continually looks for opportunities to increase the return on investment of people programs and ways to improve the employee experience;
  • Maintains an awareness of emerging trends and best practices in HR and liaisons with HR peers to ensure policies and procedures stay current and market competitive;
  • Understand the needs of Eastlink in order to provide proactive HR support and services aligned to those needs and to the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic / business plans;
  • Prepares letters and documentation to leaders and guides discussions regarding various employee relations situations.
  • Fosters Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility in our practices and processes while leading our Employment Equity Committee;
  • Leads the Employment Equity Plan by preparing the annual report (data/narrative) and creates and supports our three (3) plan employment equity strategic plan;
  • Collaborates with People & Culture team members on various projects and initiatives as required.

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant and progress experience as an HRBP with a strong understanding of all HR function;.
  • Completion of an HR Management degree/diploma;
  • A Certified Professional Human Resources (CPHR) designation or equivalent is an asset;
  • Experience working with Employment Equity plans and or committees;
  • Experience in a unionized environment would be an asset;
  • Experience working at senior management level within HR ideally in a partnership role;
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to collaborate with multiple departments and department heads;
  • Ability to influence business and HR colleagues and think long term;
  • Recognizes and values personal and cultural differences;
  • Strong customer focus and employee experience mind-set.
