About the Role:


As the HSE Manager, you will be instrumental in the development, implementation, and continuous management of our Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs. Reporting to the Safety & Security Director, you'll play a key role in ensuring our companies comply with government regulations and client safety standards while fostering a safety-first culture throughout the organization. Your leadership will be pivotal in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.


Key Responsibilities:

  • HSE Program Management: Develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs aligned with industry standards, fostering a safety-conscious workforce.
  • Audits & Inspections: Lead HSE audits and site inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments, identify potential hazards, and develop corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response and business continuity plans to enhance preparedness.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements, submitting necessary reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Mentor a safety officer trainee and lead safety milestone celebrations to recognize outstanding safety achievements.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Reporting: Serve as a key point of contact with government agencies and external stakeholders while preparing safety performance tracking reports.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: At least 8 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), with at least 3 years in a management role, preferably in remote construction or mining environments.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage and coach diverse teams, ensuring a strong safety-first culture.
  • Knowledge of HSE Legislation: Expertise in regulatory requirements, industry standards, and safety best practices.
  • Certification: A diploma or certification in Industrial Health & Safety (or equivalent) is required. CRSP and NCSO certifications are assets.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Flexibility & Composure: Ability to work under pressure, manage stress, and handle emergency situations with a calm and effective approach.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license.
  • Submission of a confirmed or clear criminal records check.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in EHS, with at least 3 years in a management role.
  • Certification in Industrial Health & Safety or related field.
  • CRSP and/or NCSO certifications are assets (or ability to obtain NCSO designation within six months of hire).

Physical & Environmental Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 20kg and work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Frequent travel to remote worksites and communities (some over an hour from the nearest hospital).
  • Ability to handle extended periods of mental and sensory concentration, especially during high-pressure situations.
