The Tlicho Investment Corporation is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and dependable individual to join our team as Human Resources Officer.

We are seeking a Human Resources Officer who thrives in providing exceptional HR support to employees, supervisors, and managers while ensuring compliance with HR policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • HR Support: Provide expert HR support to both employees and management, offering guidance on policies, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Employee Relations: Act as a liaison between employees and management to resolve conflicts and foster positive working relationships.
  • Disciplinary Support: Assist in writing reprimands, mediate or facilitate disciplinary meetings, and ensure fair and consistent handling of employee issues.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage the full recruitment cycle, from screening resumes and conducting interviews to onboarding new hires and ensuring smooth integration into the company.
  • Employee Benefits: Enroll new employees in benefits and pension plans and provide ongoing support regarding benefits administration.
  • HRIS & Documentation: Maintain employee records, process applications, and manage pre-employment documentation such as security and medical clearances.
  • Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, while recommending and implementing best practices for employee management.
  • Additional HR Support: Assist in other HR functions and projects as required.

Education & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of HR experience, particularly in employee relations and recruitment.
  • Education: Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management or a related field is preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the Northwest Territories Employment Standards Act, the NWT Human Rights Act, and experience working with Indigenous groups is highly valued.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
  • Industry Exposure: Experience in mining, construction, retail, hospitality, property management, or equipment maintenance is an asset.

  • A positive and approachable attitude, with the ability to build rapport at all levels of the organization.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience working in northern, remote environments, particularly in Indigenous communities, is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of the Tlicho language is considered an advantage, though not required.
