Cavendish Farms is currently seeking a Human Resource Specialist for New Annan, Prince Edward Island. The successful candidate will be responsible to execute HR programs and policies that support the achievement of business objectives. This role will support labour relations, employee engagement and HR functions in a fast-paced unionized manufacturing environment.

  • Salary Range: $ 58,000-$68,000

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development and administration of policies and programs regarding recruitment, and employee/labour relations.
  • Interpret and enforce the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and ensure compliance.
  • Provides support to management and employees regarding HR functions, programs, and policies, i.e., Collective Agreement and various legislations.
  • Responds to employee inquiries regarding HR-related issues.
  • Obtains, tracks and completes HR reports regarding training, headcount, absenteeism, turnover and other HR related activities used in the period end reporting.
  • Attendance management according to preventable or unpreventable absences: Running monthly reports, determining disciplinary action/steps, coordinating employee letters, communicating information to supervisors, entering info into the system.
  • Assisting in hiring and onboarding employees
  • Maintain people database and employee files including data entry, basic employee file maintenance, absence records and update HR policies as needed.
  • Enter purchase orders for HR, Payroll, etc.
  • Support the HR team in executing special HR initiatives, corporate directives and projects.

Qualifications

  • Post Secondary Education in Human Resource, Business or equivalent work experience;
  • Three or more years of Human Resource experience
  • Experience driving efficiency and accountability in a unionized environment.
  • Ability to pull information from various resources, analyze, and make decisions based on data
  • Must be able to present information effectively and accurately.
  • Understanding of customer expectations and a willingness to exceed these expectations;
  • Clear understanding of and dedication to meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • CPHR Certification is considered as an asset
