Job summary

Are you a cannabis enthusiast with an energetic spirit? Are you looking to work with a fun group of people? If so, we would love to meet you! We're looking for an ambitious and hard-working professional to join our Human Resources team in the role of Human Resources Generalist.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Acting as the main onsite point of contact for front line employees and Supervisors at the River Facility, located in Bradford, ON.
  • Provide guidance and support to both employees and Supervisors in navigating performance management, attendance issues, and employee relations.
  • Proactively collaborate with Supervisors to identify and plan for human resource needs to meet short and long-term business requirements.
  • Coordinate and participate in the full-cycle recruitment process by assisting the Operations Talent Acquisition Specialist in creating recruitment strategies, screening applications, conducting interviews, administering POET (post offer employment testing) as applicable, and preparing employment offers.
  • Coordinating and facilitating the HR portion of new hire onboarding
  • Educating new and existing hires on Aurora's total rewards plan, providing support and trouble shooting as needed.
  • Ensure facility wide compliance of all HR related policy sign-offs.
  • Identify and address any gaps in process or policy compliance.
  • Work with Supervisors to manage requests for Non-Occupational Accommodations, documenting and managing individual cases with the goal of returning each employee back to full duties safely.
  • Process requests for Leave of Absence.
  • Manage open LOA (leave of absence) cases, following up with employees and Supervisors to gather necessary documentation, and providing direction on administrative requirements through the process.
  • Support the HR Benefits team in managing Long Tern Disability cases as required.
  • Support the HR Manager in conducting investigations and preparing summary reports.
  • Draft progressive discipline letters and termination paperwork.
  • Independently deliver formal discipline and terminations of front line level employees as required.
  • Provide consultation and advice to Supervisors on a variety of employee relations and human resource issues in alignment with the execution of human resource guidelines, policies and procedures that adhere to applicable country and Provincial legislation, regulations, etc.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the daily operations of the HR team in maintaining accurate data in the HRIS by following established procedures for changes to organizational structure or transfers of employees.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and roll out of HR processes, programs and services.
  • Support logistics and administration of the Engagement Task Force.
  • Schedule and facilitate HR related training sessions as required.
  • Organize and schedule HR related "off the floor" activities (such as participation in the annual Engagement Survey).
  • Support HSE as required with WSIB claims.
  • Assists with various department projects and the potential for additional duties as assigned

  • HR Policies and Procedures: Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address employee inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with employees and managers.
  • HRIS: Understanding of the function of an HRIS and the need to maintain accurate data / employee files.
  • Ability to travel to River Facility located in Bradford, ON from Monday to Friday.

Bonus points if you have…

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field. HR certification (e.g., CHRL/CHRP is a plus).
  • Proven experience in human resources, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of employment laws and regulations in Ontario.
  • Experience in recruitment, employee relations, WSIB claims, and benefits administration.
  • Committed to confidentiality and ethical conduct in handling sensitive HR information
  • Legally permitted to work in Canada
  • Flexibility with work and scheduling
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
