Position Summary:

SE Health is currently seeking a Payroll Solution Administrator (Workday+) who will play a critical role in maximizing the value of the Workday platform by ensuring its smooth implementation and operation, supporting users, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

As part of SE Health’s strategic people-focused transformation journey, SE Health is embarking on an exciting journey to transform our Finance, HR, and Payroll operations with Workday integrated ERP Solution. This role will be configuring, executing implementation activities, and taking on the on-going administrator of Workday and other FIN/HR Solutions within our organization.

The Payroll Solution Administrator must specialize in Workday Payroll module with knowledge of other relevant Payroll Technologies (e.g., Time Management systems). In this role, you will work closely with the Finance and Payroll teams, under the guidance of the Solution Lead, to realize the design by configuring and optimizing the Workday solution for Payroll. You will use your expertise in configuration and system administration to drive initiatives that improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance across Payroll processes.

Job Responsibilities:

System Configuration and Validation

  • Responsible for configuring Workday Payroll module, in alignment with SE Health’s business needs and Canadian payroll standards, ensuring all configurations align with best practices and business requirements.
  • Develop understanding of other FIN and HR technology solutions to support implementation (through configurations) and set up activities.
  • Working with various business stakeholders (Transformation leads, Solution leads and business users) to translate solution designs into functional configurations and provide solutions.
  • Manage security roles, access rights, and domain permissions specific to Payroll to ensure secure access and data compliance per Role-based access control design for data security and permission.
  • Support integrations with external systems that ensure accurate data flow and functionality (external systems, including ERP, banking, and expense management platforms)
    Support Workday Report development - Design custom reports, dashboards, and KPIs that support data-driven decision-making.

Validation, Testing and Quality Assurance

  • Support the development and execution of test plans for configurations and system updates that provides validation on solution designs of Workday Payroll module and, or FIN/HR technology solutions.
  • Perform validation checks and prepare end-to-end testing scenarios with cross functional teams and business leads on each configured module to ensure settings and data accuracy, ensuring integrations work as expected across Workday modules and address any discrepancies.
  • Responsible for artifacts such as: configuration specs and process documentations to maintain compliance and support knowledge transfer.
  • Analyze system testing and user feedback from UAT and address any discrepancies through configuration.

System Support

  • Provide day-to-day and project Support on Workday Payroll module, troubleshoot issues, and serve as the primary point of contact for resolution.
  • Provide technical support on other FIN/HR Technology solutions within configuration domains.
  • Provide Integrations and Data Migration Support on by validating financial data, reconciling transferred data, and troubleshooting discrepancies.

Adoption and Training

  • Train end-users on Workday functionality, ensuring a seamless transition and ongoing user adoption.
  • Support development of training materials, user guides, and quick-reference sheets to prepare stakeholders for go-live and ensure effective system usage.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Human Resources, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience with Workday Payroll configuration, , with a focus on Canadian payroll requirements; Configuring the organization’s payroll requirements, including pay groups, earnings, deductions, and tax rules.
  • Experience in implementations and experience in active role in executing Workday implementation is desirable, not required.
  • Hands-on experience configuring other Payroll solutions.

Certifications

  • Workday certifications (Finance, HCM, Payroll and, or specialisms of Workday functional areas) or Workday training or equivalent experience in HCM fundamentals, Business Process Configuration, Report Writing (advanced/matrix/composite reports), dashboards, EIBs, and related Workday features are definite asset.
  • Professional qualifications Payroll Capabilities are desirable but not required.
  • Certifications in Agile and Scrum methodologies are a plus.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll regulations, including tax laws, labor standards, and reporting obligations.
  • Experience in hands on-Workday configuration. Any knowledge/exposure to Workday integration, reporting, and testing methodologies and tools would be an asset.
  • Appreciations in Finance, Payroll and HR technologies with vision to support organization goals.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), with a strong customer service focus and the ability to build relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical and collaborative problem-solving approach with the ability to understand not just the "what" but the "why" behind solution designs.
  • Familiarity in Workday integration tools (e.g., EIB, Workday Studio, PECI, and Workday APIs) and Workday technologies, such as XML, XSLT, SOAP, REST, Web Services, and EIB would be an asset.
  • Experience presenting data and ideas effectively across various audiences.
  • Product-driven mindset, with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail, especially in compliance and data accuracy.
  • Travel may be required within Ontario.
