Group Annuity, Senior Pension Analyst

What is the opportunity?

RBC Insurance is seeking a Senior Pension Analyst to support our Group Annuity line of business. In this role, you will ensure data integrity, quality control and the accurate administration of Group Annuity plans. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of annuity administration from setup to monthly reconciliation, including payroll processing and compliance with regulatory requirements.

What will you do?

•Manage and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of Group Annuity plan administration for Buy-Ins and Buy-Outs including monthly payments, data reconciliation, retirement and pre/post-retirement death processing

•Interpret client-specific requirements, guide the implementation of new plans, and organize user acceptance testing for new releases

•Load, maintain, and update annuitant data in the system on a monthly and ad-hoc basis, ensuring data integrity and accuracy through detailed reviews and reporting

•Investigate and resolve data integrity issues, initiate corrective actions and provide solutions for complex cases

•Lead improvement initiatives, provide training and support to team members on any new changes, and ensure continuous enhancements in efficiency and accuracy

•Oversee payroll reconciliations, resolve variances and manage various year-end activities

What do you need to succeed?

•3 to 5 years of experience in Defined Benefit pension administration, Group Annuities, or payroll processing

•Excellent communication and relationship-building skills and ability to communicate with annuitants

•Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving capabilities and ability to manage tasks independently and adapt to changes

•High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work, maintaining quality standards

•Ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and take initiative to implement solutions to enhance efficiency

•Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Nice to Have:

•Familiarity with industry best practices and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and operational efficiency

•Pension Plan Administration Certificate or RPA (CEBS or PPAC)

•Post-secondary degree or diploma in Payroll, Accounting, Business, or Finance

•Canadian Payroll designation (PCP) is preferred
