What you'll do

The Executive Compensation team is responsible for the design, development, execution and management of the executive compensation programs, plans, policies and processes at Canadian Tire Corporation and CT REIT. As a key member of the Executive Compensation team, the Senior Compensation Consultant will play a pivotal role in the development and delivery of compensation programs. This position reports to the Director, Executive Compensation & Governance.

  • Use knowledge of compensation principles and practices to support the design, development and administration of executive compensation plans, programs, policies or business solutions.

  • Provide critical thinking and reasoning in supporting the development of executive compensation programs by creating analysis, presenting findings, making recommendations, developing reports, tools, resources and communications materials for business leaders, HR, Compensation Committees, Boards of Directors and shareholders (e.g. Management Information Circular)

  • Provide analytic expertise and support large-scale, complex processes (e.g. annual and long-term incentive plan allocation and payout processes, share ownership guideline review, annual salary review process etc.) and compensation projects (e.g. market benchmark reviews, salary structure design, plan design reviews, etc), making recommendations on opportunities for continuous improvement and ensuring alignment across the enterprise.

  • Evaluate and recommend process and program changes to enhance operational efficiencies and meet the needs of the organization, leadership and key stakeholders

  • Ensure the accuracy of the information in our systems and monitor it on an ongoing basis

  • Develop, analyze and maintain complex Excel reports to support data analysis

What you bring

  • 5-7 years of experience in HR, or 3-5 years of experience in compensation/executive

  • University degree in a related field (Business, Finance, HR)

  • Compensation Professional Certification (e.g., CCP) is an asset

  • Experience managing numerous types of programs and policies across a diverse group of employee segments

  • Deep analytical capability with advanced spreadsheet skills and strong attention to detail

  • Exceptional ability to deliver results, multi-task and work in an environment with multiple deadlines

  • Experience managing projects, executing processes and ensuring compliance with policy, legal and administrative requirements

  • Ability to deal with highly personal and confidential information with sensitivity, tact and confidentiality
