Payroll Associate

The Payroll Associate position is responsible for collecting employee timekeeping information, processing weekly/bi-weekly payroll, doing so within prescribed timelines and with accuracy, quality, and efficiency. This individual is also responsible for the collection of employee information to assist the HRIS team with accurate and confidential record keeping, and other administrative duties as required.

Primary Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

The Payroll Associate supports Payroll and Human Resources processes for hourly employees the following:

  • Enters payroll and employment information in a timely and accurate manner; ensures the integrity of payroll data
  • Maintain Job cost database for time entry accuracy
  • Balances and reconciles payroll records; analyzes reports to identify errors and resolves and adjusts discrepancies
  • Researches and resolves routine payroll questions and issues from managers and staff
  • Complies with payroll company standards and practices
  • Maintains a consistent information flow between payroll, HR, and other operational departments as needed
  • Responsible for administration of the Austin Lane system
  • Involved in the onboarding and new hire/rehire documentation process
  • Maintains employee records and assists in administering HR programs and processes

General/Other Responsibilities and Duties:

  • HRIS support
  • Onboarding/termination processing
  • Occasional coverage of Accounts Payable/Receivable
  • Other admin duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Completion of a post-secondary program in a related field; PCP or CPM designation preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years payroll experience, preferably in a unionized environment
  • Organized, detail oriented and able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information and to perform with a high level of professionalism and integrity
  • Strong understanding of payroll principles and standards
  • Ability to carefully follow procedures and policies
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with payroll systems/software such as JD Edwards
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with strong Excel skills
