The Fleet Safety & Driver Safety Training Branch is responsible for managing the City's Fleet Safety and Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR) Management Program, including vehicle risk event prevention and ensuring that drivers of fleet vehicles and mobile equipment are aware of how to, and capable of, operating vehicles safely, properly, and effectively. The Branch is also responsible for maintaining the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) CVOR certification and ensuring ongoing compliance with all related provincial legislation.
You are responsible for the delivery of professional, effective and high-quality driver safety training to ensure drivers can safely and properly operate any City vehicle or mobile equipment, including commercial vehicles, light-duty vehicles, emergency response vehicles, snow clearing equipment, other vehicles and mobile equipment. You perform driver risk assessments to identify and manage risk and perform duties of a Signing Authority (SA) under the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) Driver Certification Program (DCP). You are also responsible to ensure continuous improvement of training materials and resources.
Completion of Grade 12
Minimum of three (3) years related experience in an adult education or adult training setting.
Minimum of five (5) years safe driving experience operating fleet vehicles (heavy equipment, commercial vehicles, emergency response vehicles, light-duty vehicles) or equivalent safe driving experience, with no preventable vehicle risk events within the past two (2) years.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENCES
Valid Ontario unrestricted "DZ" class driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) with no demerit points accumulated, as per City of Ottawa corporate standard, or the ability to obtain within the timeframe determined by the employer.
