Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for investigations, and case management coordination for campus safety services and assistance/oversight for departmental training programs.

Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• Knowledge of public safety and security programs, processes, policies and procedures
• Knowledge of crime prevention programs, emergency response, and crisis management investigative process and violence risk assessment
• Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions as well as law enforcement jurisdictions at all levels (municipal, provincial and federal) as they apply to the university
• Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
• Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity
• Knowledge of management practices
• Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulation and case law
• Involvement and participation in campus law enforcement/security networks (uOttawa, AC, La Cite) and other partner agencies such as INTERSECT, OC Transpo, OPP, OPS, RCMP - membership in ASIS, CATAP, DRIE, IACLEA, OACUSA, etc. highly desired and encouraged

Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
• Completion of three-year college diploma
• Specialized certifications e.g. Special Constable status and accreditations (ASIS-CPP, OMMI-CMM)
• Minimum of five years of previous experience in safety and security and/or investigation/training plus at least three years of supervision and leadership experience
