Responsibilities

This role will be responsible for managing the job evaluation process for LUSU and LUAPS employees, including the day-to-day operation of the Joint Job Evaluation (JJE) committees. This will include maintaining appropriate records and preparing reports and analysis on monetary compensation, benefits, and other forms of compensation. In addition, this role will be responsible for reconciling and analyzing HRIS data as they would relate to compensation and benefit functions.

Job Evaluation

  • Job evaluation administration, ensuring that records are kept to standard, working with HR Advisors and managers on preparing job descriptions and working with employees on the preparation of job questionnaires;
  • Scheduling and facilitating JJE meetings and providing guidance and advice to the committee members to produce high quality evaluations and then implementing the required outcomes;
  • Working with the HR Advisors and the hiring manager, perform interim grading of new roles for the review and approval of the Compensation Manager; and
  • Ensure that job evaluation data and supporting documentation is kept in accordance with Work Standards and perform various analysis and standardized reports are produced as needed.

Human Resources Information Systems

  • Ensure that the required data is gathered in a consistent fashion and updated in the HRIS to improve data integrity;
  • Assist in the implementation of Human Resources and Organizational Development (HROD) modules in the ERP by assisting with the data formatting and generating automated reports from the system;
  • Assist in the development of Human Resource Management Systems (ERP) training modules for the HROD staff and self-service modules used by employees and managers;
  • Edit and maintain the Human Resources content on myLaurentian;
  • Reporting the HR Metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis;
  • Prepare a variety of reports upon requests, such as but not limited to: Market Surveys, market comparisons, compensation salary surveys, bargaining and wage settlement research; and
  • Assist in business process improvements, documentation, and streamlining processes.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Assist in the calculation of salary and benefit increases throughout the university, including full-time, part-time, and casual employees as required;
  • Prepare ad hoc and scheduled reports on compensation for all employee groups;
  • Maintain the benefits models and coordinate reconciliation of benefit coverages and premiums with Payroll Services and against Manulife and Sunlife reports;
  • Assist with the preparation of annual benefit plan renewals with Manulife and Sunlife; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) year post-secondary certificate or diploma in a related field such as Human Resources Management;
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or working towards the designation;
  • Minimum two (2) to three (3) years of relevant experience;
  • Demonstrated aptitude working with large and complex datasets;
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills in logical functions, lookup techniques, pivot tables and charts, and data modeling;
  • Ability to create dashboards for monitoring and reporting purposes;
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
  • Able to work independently and take initiative as well as perform effectively as a member of a team;
  • Strong communicator with ability to guide educate in HR process and best practices; and
  • Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
