Overview


Under the general direction of the Deputy Provost and Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning, the Indigenous Curriculum Specialist will support Indigenous curriculum, community service learning, and other related strategic initiatives. The position includes stipendiary teaching opportunities in programs related to the candidate's disciplinary area.

Responsibilities


The person in this role will provide consultation and support services for faculty and staff related to resources, instructional design, strategies, assessment, and the integration of learning technologies addressing the learner outcomes supporting Indigenous content. This individual will work with faculty and staff to help ensure curricula is in keeping with Indigenous worldviews and assist with strategies to create learning environments in which Indigenous students feel safe.

Qualifications


  • Minimum Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field
  • Teaching experience at the post-secondary level
  • Demonstrated ability to support faculty in teaching and learning experiences
  • Experience working with Indigenous people and community groups
  • Direct experience and knowledge of Indigenous cultures, communities, customs, practices, and communication styles
  • Lived experience as an Indigenous person with strong ties to Indigenous nation(s) and Indigenous knowledges (considered a significant asset)
  • Understanding of Universal Design for Learning
  • Ability to apply learning theory and methods to the use of educational technologies
  • Excellent communication, presentation, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time-management skills
