Overview


The Talent Acquisition and Employee Development Advisor is a vital role created to enhance the university's efforts in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent. Beyond managing recruitment activities, this position is responsible for establishing recruitment guidelines, policies, and processes, and providing guidance to recruiters. This position will educate hiring managers on all aspects of recruitment, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle interviews and make informed hiring decisions. Additionally, the role includes developing and delivering employee training programs focused on essential skills such as interviewing, skill development, and resume writing. This position also involves creating policy procedures for the automation of recruitment and employee development processes, ensuring efficiency and consistency in these critical areas.

Responsibilites


Talent Acquisition:
Strategic Leadership & Compliance

  • Advise and support recruiters and hiring managers on best practices, policies, and compliance.
  • Enhance employer branding to position the university as a top employer in higher education.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with employment laws and university policies to mitigate risks.
  • Develop repositories of documentation and resources to increase hiring efficiency and standardization.
  • Stay informed on emerging HR trends and integrate innovative recruitment strategies.

Sourcing

  • Drive talent attraction through job boards, social media, career fairs, and networking.
  • Build and maintain relationships with potential candidates and recruitment partners.
  • Oversee pre-employment checks, including vendor management and assessment processes.
  • Create and distribute engaging job advertisements and recruitment materials across multiple platforms.
  • Establish and manage employee referral programs and partnerships to strengthen the talent pipeline.

Evaluation & Selection

  • Lead recruitment and selection process development, ensuring fairness, consistency, and alignment with university goals.
  • Provide expert guidance on interviews, assessments, and hiring best practices.
  • Develop and refine onboarding programs to support seamless integration of new hires.
  • Continuously assess and improve evaluation tools to enhance diversity, inclusion, and hiring efficiency.
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience from initial contact to final decision, reinforcing the university's employer brand.

Employee Development:

  • Assess training needs and deliver programs on recruitment best practices, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Develop internal talent pipelines by implementing talent development initiatives, career growth plans, and succession strategies.
  • Monitor and enhance training effectiveness, ensuring alignment with university goals.
  • Implement mentoring, coaching, and career development programs to strengthen employee skills and retention.

Recruitment Data & Process Improvement:

  • Maintain accurate recruitment and training records, generating reports to track metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Analyze data to enhance recruitment strategies, optimize talent acquisition, and improve efficiency.
  • Implement and manage HR systems and online platforms to streamline workflows and enhance the candidate experience.

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certification in one of the following designations: CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional),OR RPR (Registered Professional Recruiter).
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, or human resources, preferably within an academic or similarly structured environment
  • Knowledge of full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Proficiency in documenting and using applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HRIS systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in instructional design or techniques.
  • Knowledge of Adult learning and instruction.

Experience:

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Relevant experience of 5+ years in specific areas such as recruitment, onboarding, training and development ,and policy development, within a complex organizational structure may be accepted
  • Experience in assessing and improving recruitment processes and strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Experience using social media platforms for attracting talent, including LinkedIn, Talent Solutions and other applicable platforms
  • Prior experience in managing or coordinating recruitment events such as job fairs, campus recruitment, and networking events. Experience in designing, developing and implementing training programs for employees and managers.
  • The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of HR principles, recruitment strategies, talent management, and workforce planning, with expertise in employment legislation, diversity and inclusion, and data analytics. They possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with proficiency in HR software, Microsoft Office, and data analysis to drive strategic decision-making. Additionally, they demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing priorities while maintaining confidentiality, problem-solving effectively, and mentoring others on best practices.
