Ensures maintenance and safety is up to date and complete in accordance with all legislative requirements and CSA group-HSE policy. Maintains buildings and assets from damage. Performs a variety of maintenance duties to ensure housekeeping is maintained to high standards. Operates specialized equipment. Assists various licensed trade specialists and CSA Technicians as required and under the direction of the Facility and Project Managers.
Responsibilities
Performs and documents daily/weekly/monthly checks on a variety of fire life safety equipment throughout the building as per the Ontario Fire Code and NFPA to meet all legislated requirements for the facility.
Assists skilled trades in all annual/semi-annual testing and repairs of the fire life safety equipment. Organizes and coordinates the deployment, refilling, and testing of all onsite fire extinguishers. Works with external contractors to ensure compliance with internal Fire Safety Plan.
Assists all CSA departments and security during and after emergencies to ensure the continued safe and secure operation of the building. Assists in emergencies to ensure the protection of employees and premises. During emergencies will actively respond to and be part of the emergency response team under the direction of the Facility manager or designate. These duties may include but are not limited to re-setting key assets during power outages and surges, responding to and installing various pumping equipment to mitigate flooding, escort Fire/Power and Gas personnel as required during extreme conditions. Reports any malfunction to the Facility Manager or designate and/or service contractor as appropriate.
Due to the nature of this position, some work is performed outside regular working hours. On 24 hour notice for emergencies.
Coordinates and plans and confirms all off office layouts and occupancy around the building. Assembles/disassembles/relocates all furniture, and workstations. Relocates, and installs all computer, telephone and printers, and maintains an inventory of office furniture.
Installs all facility signage as directed by HSE and Building Operations Management in accordance with all applicable legislation and industry standards.
Fabricate and design test fixtures and all related equipment as required by certification and project managers.
Makes repairs/constructs items to the building infrastructure i.e. Walls, roof, windows, grounds, parking lot, pavement/walkways and fencing as required.
Operates snow removal equipment. Perform daily checks during winter season and performs salting and sanding of all sidewalks and doorways around the facility.
Maintains equipment (i.e. truck, table saw, band saw etc.) in good working order by performing general maintenance and monitoring performance of equipment.
Maintains mechanical rooms and electrical rooms in accordance with the Ontario Fire Code and NFPA.
Performs yearly maintenance activities and system checks on equipment and assets as per OME recommendations. These systems and assets are required for CSA's daily business process and testing facility.
Performs scheduled duties such as cafeteria grease pit maintenance, painting, tiling, re-lamping, bond sample destruction
Liaises with contractors to ensure the scope of work is completed efficiently and in a timely manner and meets all codes and legislative requirements.
Facilitate all furniture configurations and prep for meeting rooms and town halls and special events.
Work with File & Document Control staff to identify and locate CSA files.
Assists other trade specialists/machinist/Lab Techs/IT Techs when required and performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
Full Secondary School Diploma,
Trade Knowledge (Electrical , Plumbing, HVAC)
3-5 years of related experience
Working at Heights experience
Forklift, Boom, Scissor Lift experience
Respirator Training
Various additional training is required
Must be proficient in the operation of a variety of power tools
