Program Overview The Career Counselling Services assist clients in identifying their interests, skills, personality attributes and values. This process allows them to develop a clear understanding of what will make a fulfilling career. This is a fee-based service.
We're looking for someone who will: • Provide targeted and in-depth career assessments and counselling for clients from a range of educational and occupational backgrounds • Design career counselling interventions specific to client's unique needs and help them create a career profile • Administer and interpret results of Level B career assessment inventories, vocational assessments and other relevant tools that will assist clients in career decision-making; write reports outlining the findings/results as required • Provide information about specific jobs and career paths that are realistic and attainable based on client's goals • Advise clients on education and training options, where appropriate, to help them reach their career goals • Provide consultations, as needed, to prospective clients who have questions or need further clarifications about services offered • Source or develop new assessment batteries or/and program packages relevant to services offered • Take initiative and possess the ability to work independently to achieve career counselling objectives. • Promote Career Services to ensure client flow and establish a pipeline of referrals
Minimum Qualifications & Experience: • Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, Adult Education, or related • Compliance with Canadian Standards & Guidelines for Career Development Practitioners • 1-2 years of Counselling experience • Experience administering and interpreting Level B Career Assessment tools like the MBTI, SII, and other inventories • Know how and where to source relevant labor market information • Strong ability to use counselling techniques • Effective problem solving skills • Effective written and verbal communication skills • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of personality types, cultural backgrounds, and vocational barriers • Computer literate; the ability to learn systems used by the agency (ie. SalesForce) • A clear Police Vulnerable Sector check is required for this position
