This position is based out of Toronto. McCarthy Tétrault employees benefit from a hybrid work environment.


As a Professional Resources Coordinator you will be:

Student Program

  • Coordinating the service delivery of the Toronto Office Student Program, including, and not limited to:

    • Recruitment;

    • Conflict management, onboarding & integration including national orientation programs;

    • Off-boarding;

    • Leaves and secondments;

    • Performance management;

    • Work allocation;

    • Mentor pairings and mentor awards;

    • Law school liaison;

    • Law society filings;

    • Data collection and reporting; and

    • Engagement and social events.

Administration

  • Anticipating and managing the administrative and operational priorities, deliverables and commitments of the Toronto student program in a proactive, organized and efficient manner. Such responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Managing calendars, and preparing materials for meetings;

    • Administering confidential files in OneDrive;

    • Creating and maintaining both intranet and Firm website pages, in collaboration with stakeholders;

    • Creating, maintaining and continuously updating various tracking spreadsheets, databases, project plans, forms, precedents, workflows, etc.;

    • Liaising with other MT Services teams, as required;

    • Preparing and submitting expense reports in a timely manner;

    • Communications with law schools and law societies; and

    • Other related duties as assigned.

Teamwork and Innovation

  • Identifying PR process, task, and project improvement opportunities and collaborating with Firm members to improve.

  • Learning about changes in technology and working to enhance the operations of the Toronto student program such as viGlobal, MS Teams, MS Forms, MS Bookings, SharePoint and CoPilot.

As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:

  • Post-Secondary education in Human Resources, Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience, ideally gained in a professional services (or similar) environment.
  • Highly reliable, collaborative and resourceful.

  • Exceptional judgment and interpersonal skills.

  • Tactful, respectful, and professional in all interactions.

  • Demonstrated capacity to handle sensitive and confidential information.

  • Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong work ethic and commitment to client service excellence.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities.

  • Flexibility to new ideas, frequent change in priorities, etc.

  • Strong attention to detail; superior word processing, spelling, proofreading and editing skills.

  • Proactive and positive approach.

  • May require flexible lunch hours and some evening work during heavy workload periods.
