The Director, Total Rewards oversees the ongoing alignment of Compensation, Benefit and Pension plans to the Holt Renfrew Employee Value Proposition. This role is highly engaged in following the competitive business landscape as it relates to Total Rewards and the evolving provincial and federal government legislation impacting rewards at Holt Renfrew. This role works closely with the HR Executive team and cross-functional leadership to respond to internal and external pressures with solutions and ideas that align to the company's strategic goals and cultural mandate.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the development and execution of complex cross-functional strategies to address opportunities and issues in the areas of Total Rewards. Includes:
    • Demonstrating thought-leadership and executive presence
    • Ensuring solutions consider the impact on longer term business strategy and market developments
    • Presenting findings and recommendations in a compelling way at an executive level
  • As 'owner', you monitor total rewards programs to ensure alignment with business objectives and performance pay relative to target pay
  • You manage the implementation of best practices and partner on technology solutions to deliver programs
  • Manage all compensation programs revision and rollout, ensuring that Total Rewards programs are competitive and support organizational strategy, including review of sales compensation plans currently underway
  • Oversee the delivery and ongoing improvement of the Annual Compensation Cycle
  • Work with Human Resources partners to ensure communications and learning lead to employees' understanding of their total rewards plans and the value they offer
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to a team of Total Rewards professionals
  • Provide direction and act as second level support to the HR partners
  • Ensure that Group Health and Benefits programs are competitive, cost-effective, well administered and well communicated
  • Coordinate with outsourced providers to ensure exceptional delivery of customer service and continuous improvement of services
  • Manage conflicting priorities to deliver highest value initiatives that support key business objectives while respecting organizational and team capacity
  • Effectively influence cross-functional teams for Total Rewards, defining the operational skills, processes and environment required to meet Total Rewards needs and achieve overall strategic goals
  • Complies with all Health & Safety policies and requirements
  • Ensures compliance with privacy policies, regulations, and cyber security measures

The ideal candidate:

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of post-university work experience, including a minimum of 3+ years leading a business unit or enterprise-wide strategy
  • Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills with the ability to get things done
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; a team player who is able to act as both a leader and an individual contributor as required
  • Confident and effective communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Is adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity and change
  • Workday HRIS experience preferred
